Keep Your Loopbrek Jewelry Looking Its Best
At LoopBrek, we want your jewelry to stay as beautiful and unique as the day you received it. Proper care will help maintain its shine and longevity, so here are some simple tips to keep your pieces in top condition.
Cleaning Tarnished Stainless Steel and Silver Plating
To remove oxidation or tarnish from your jewelry, we recommend using a silver polishing cloth. Avoid tissues or paper towels, as these can cause scratches. A silver polishing cloth works particularly well for polishing—just make sure it's clean, as dirt and grit from previous uses can cause damage.
Apply light pressure while polishing. Let the cloth do the work—if you find your arm getting sore, you’re probably pressing too hard!
Things to Keep in Mind
- Remove Jewelry Before Showering or Cleaning: Water, soap, and cleaning agents can leave a residue on your jewelry, which attracts dirt and dust. Always take your jewelry off before showering, cleaning, or engaging in activities where it might get wet.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never clean your jewelry with bleach or any harsh chemicals! Bleach is a powerful oxidizer that can cause metals to become brittle and break down over time.
- Skip the Toothpaste or Abrasives: While some people recommend using toothpaste to clean jewelry, it’s not a good practice. The abrasives in toothpaste can scratch and damage the surface of your jewelry. Stick to recommended polishing cloths or gentle cleaners instead.
Additional Tips for Preserving Your Jewelry
- Storage: Store your jewelry in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight, and ideally in a jewelry box or pouch to prevent scratches.
- Avoid Excessive Friction: When wearing jewelry, avoid contact with rough surfaces to minimize wear and tear.
